It is a busy time for the Camera Club!
So why’s that?

1. Already this year we’ve looked at some brilliant pictures from around the North-West; had members bring pictures for their Club friends to admire and comment upon and had a Club competition of prints and slides.

There is much to look forward to - just have a look at our Syllabus to see for yourself - and more, besides.

2. PHOTOVIEW is the culmination of a year’s work!

Make a note in your diary for 11 and 12 November 2008 when Photoview 2008 will be under way. It’s well worth the time!

3. The Club has been awarded a significant sum by the Lottery !

In this digital age the Club was seriously in danger of getting left behind. We knew that we needed a digital projector amd a laptop computer. We also needed to know how properly to make the best of what digital has to offer. We seriously doubted that we could afford to buy it all. But, thanks to the Lottery, the Club now has some really good equipment and training.

We applied for a Lottery grant, and, with guidance from VCAT (a Trafford organisation for voluntary groups, website www.vcatrafford.org/ ), we were thrilled to be successful.

Our successful award was made by Lottery Grants for Local Groups, AWARDS FOR ALL. It is part of the Lottery aiming to give relatively small, but really important, amounts to organisations at a local level.  Lottery funding to ‘ordinary’ people - like us!  This returns Lottery benefit to those who buy the Lottery tickets in the first place!

So now we have a new digital projection and computer set-up, which will be suited to our needs for quite a while. Which is wonderful. We hope to attract new members, who also have similar interests. (Maybe you would like to be a member! See How to Join us and Find us ) We should also gain from training provided by a local College. And, in time, Club members may be able to use the equipmentit when they do shows for other organisations. The public have now seen the results - and the benefits of Awards for All - at Photoview (Click on Photoview to see more.)

We are thrilled to have been successful twice with Awards for All, in recent years.
