What is Photoview?
Photoview is held in the main room at Flixton House and is planned for 11 and 12 November 2008. The Exhibition opens at 7.0 pm, and the show starts at 7.30 pm. (Click on How to Join us and Find us for a map showing Flixton House.) It only cost £3 in 2007 -and you can pay at the door.

Photoview is not just an Annual Exhibition of pictures produced by members. It is this and more.

Everything in Photoview is done by Club members. The Programme, the slide shows, the Special Features, the prints, the Master of Ceremonies - even the raffle prizes and the interval cup of tea - all come from members and their work.

Come and see it - it’s well worth the evening out! If you like photographs, you’ll enjoy Photoview
!

So what actually happened at the latest Photoview?

We were privileged to have a visit on the first night from the Mayor of Trafford, and he presented us with the Awards for All cheque for the grant which they had made to the Club.

We were also privileged to have visits from the President and the Vice-President of the Lancashire and Cheshire Photographic Union (see Links page).

Then, of course, we had the Show itself.
Part One used our slide projectors and associated equipment, and Part Two used our digital projector and computer.

Part One
1 Memory Lane showed winning slides from the last year’s competitions.
2 Related Sets showed the slides entered for the competition where Members had entered sets of 6 pictures on a connected theme.
3 Jean Kay presented Slides taken by herself and John on their travels to Italy, including Venice.

Part Two

1 Audio-visual shows. All six shows were seen in 3 parts of two each
2 A quiz including pictures of local and wider areas for the audience to identify was made by Jenny Burnham.
3 Related sets - this time digital
4 Members’ Choice - a showing of digital pictures chosen by the members who took them.

Photoview also had an exhibition of photographic prints on display, for the audience to view.

A good evening which was enjoyed by those who attended. If you can make it, why not come next year?...

This year’s ‘Photoview’ was different from any we have had before, because of the big shift to digital (even though film should be around for a long while!). We were pleased to use our new digital projector show these pictures thanks to the Lottery. (See the NEWS page for more.)

We have an expert judge to decide on the best “home processed” colour print, the best “trade processed” colour print and the best monochrome print.. Those who visit Photoview, can vote for their own ‘best print’ choice, which is often different!
